Rory McIlroy schedule: Latest results, confirmed events, TGL, majors, Ryder Cup and where he could play in 2025

Rory McIlroy will be chasing more PGA Tour and DP World Tour success in 2025, with an end to his major drought and more Ryder Cup success also targets for him over the year ahead.

McIlroy wrapped up the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai title for a sixth time and third time in as many years during 2024, having defended his Hero Dubai Desert Classic crown and won the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Runner-up finishes at the US Open, Amgen Irish Open and BMW Championship were among 10 worldwide top-threes posted by McIlroy last year, with him winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour.

McIlroy remains without a major victory since his 2014 PGA Championship success and will search for an elusive fifth major over the coming season, while he will make an eighth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance for Team Europe later this year at Bethpage Black.

McIlroy played 27 events last year, his highest number of tournaments since 2010, although plans to significantly reduce his schedule after hitting "a wall" during a packed finish to his PGA Tour season.

"l will probably play, including the Ryder Cup, something like 22," McIlroy said ahead of his tied-fourth finish at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. "I'd say my DP World Tour schedule will be pretty similar to what it was last year.

"Obviously we don't have the extra event here in Dubai this year, but I'd imagine that my schedule after the summer will look very much the same. If anything, I'll play a similar schedule here [DP World Tour] and just shave off some events over in the States."

McIlroy has previously hinted on events he could skip in 2025, telling the Daily Telegraph at the end of the last year that he was unlikely to feature in the opening event of the FedExCup Playoffs.

McIlroy will return to the site of his first professional victory on Irish soil when he tees it up in the Amgen Irish Open this September, nine years on from his famous victory at The K Club.

The former world No 1 produced a brilliant birdie-par-eagle finish to win the island of Ireland's national open by three strokes in 2016, with McIlroy now looking to go one better than last year's runner-up finish to Rasmus Hojgaard.

His Irish Open appearance will be the first of back-to-back starts on the DP World Tour, with McIlroy also confirmed to be playing the BMW PGA Championship the following week ahead of the Ryder Cup from September 26-28.

"I'm excited to be returning to The K Club for the Irish Open later this year," McIlroy said. "Playing in the Irish Open, in front of your home fans, is always a special experience. The support the Irish players receive is unmatched.

"The scenes at Royal County Down last year were unforgettable. While I unfortunately came up just short that week, the roars walking down the 18th hole and the energy from the crowd will stay with me forever. I can't wait to be a part of it and to share another amazing week with everyone there."

McIlroy is part of Tomorrow's Golf League (TGL), founded by Tiger Woods and McIlroy's TMRW Sports - in partnership with the PGA Tour, with all matches taking place on Monday or Tuesday evenings in the United States.

He plays for Boston Common Golf in the six-team league - alongside Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Scott - where players go head-to-head in indoor matches that use a hybrid of virtual and real-life play.

The top four in the season-long standings then progress to the semi-finals, with the two winners then going on to compete for the SoFi Cup in a best-of-three finals on March 24 and 25, while every match of the 2025 and 2026 seasons will be exclusively live on Sky Sports.

Every match is scheduled for approximately two hours and features three of the four players from each roster, with McIlroy expected to feature in every Boston Common fixture during the season (all matches below in UK time).

McIlroy's major drought extends into an 11th year, which would equal the biggest gap between major victories in men's golf, although there are courses on the 2025 schedule that will give him encouragement to end his winless streak.

He has seven career top-10s at The Masters, including a runner-up finish at Augusta National in 2022, while he is a four-time winner of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club - the venue for the 2025 PGA Championship.

The Northern Irishman will head to Oakmont having ended no worse than ninth in each of his last six US Open appearances, before a return to Royal Portrush for The Open to play a course where he missed the cut in 2019 but previously held a course record as a teenager.
